Join us for the 5th Annual Children's Book Festival from Oct. 25-27.
The CU Boulder School of Education and the Boulder Book Store invite teachers, students, families, librarians, and all who enjoy children’s literature to join us for the following free events!
Friday, October 27: Children's Author Panels
- Virtual Event (10:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.)
- Two author panels catered to different grade levels with audience Q&A

The five authors will share their new books and talk about their creative process and influences
- 10:30-11:30 a.m. Picture book Panel (Grades K-3): Derrick Barnes (Like Lava in My Veins), Carole Lindstrom (Autumn Peltier, Water Warrior), and Sheetal Sheth (Always Anjali)
- 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. Chapter book Panel (Grades 3-6): J.E. Thomas (Control Freaks) and Dave Valeza (Four Eyes)
Wednesday, October 25: Censorship Unbound: A Panel on Book Bans and the Right to Read in K-8 Schools and Libraries
- Canyon Theater & Gallery - Boulder Public Library (5:30 - 7:30 p.m.)

Presented in partnership with the CU Center for Humanities and the Arts
- Featuring local community members such as local teachers, librarians, parents and more.
- Opportunity to purchase the festival authors’ books, signing, and a reception will follow the panel
Additional festival highlights include:
- Open education resources created by School of Education students available for free download (e.g., resources from past festivals include author slide shows, book discussion guides, digital book trailers and class projects)
- On Thursday, October 26, authors and illustrators will visit several Colorado elementary schools for an author visit (by invitation)
