ATLAS Colloquium: Hessam Djavaherpour on Inspiration

I am an Architect with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, specializing in Computational Media Design (CMD), from the University of Calgary, Canada. My research interests lie at the intersection of data visualization, digital fabrication, and immersive experiences. I am interested in data-driven design and the use of technology to develop interactive tools to support creativity, and collaboration, with applications in education and community information platforms. I am currently a visiting researcher at INRIA, Bordeaux, and a member of the POTIOC team, working with Yvonne Jansen. My Ph.D. research was mainly focused on the design and digital fabrication of objects that represent different types of datasets to improve the understanding, exploration, and memorability of data, a field known as physicalization. My core Ph.D. publications mainly focus on pursuing the concept of physicalizing geospatial data at various scales.
