About the Workshop 

Water access, quality, and quantity are critical sustainability challenges, with acute urgency right here in Colorado. This year’s light snowfall has compounded ongoing climate pressures, over and above increasing demand from rapid infrastructure growth, such as the water footprints of expanding data centers. Addressing these challenges will require leveraging the latest CU research and no single discipline can solve them in isolation.

The Sustainability Research Initiative is organizing an internal workshop to bring together CU Boulder researchers working on topics that touch water and its sustainability, management, and security. The goal of this workshop is to connect disparate research efforts across campus and forge innovative, interdisciplinary research collaborations.

The workshop will include a series of lightning talks alongside a panel of external experts and community stakeholders working directly on local and regional water challenges. Additionally, we will present a selection of upcoming funding opportunities related to water, with dedicated time to foster interdisciplinary teaming to submit successful research proposals.
