The Academic Job Market: Overview and Strategy (Academic Job Search Seminar Series)

Week 1: This session will introduce the seminar and lay out the academic job cycle and where to find academic job postings. We will also discuss how to formulate an application plan and how to stay competitive in academia while adjuncting or working in academic-adjacent or industry roles. We will talk about how to research your target institution, some strategies for using that information throughout your academic application, and how to strategize both your selection of referees and how to request letters that will support your applications.

The Academic Job Search Seminar Series for Graduate Students is a four-week seminar aimed at the year 3 or year 4 PhD student or postdoc who plans to begin the academic job search in the next 1-2 years, or any PhD student who is curious about the academic job search process.
