Are you responsible for your department’s business activities but have never taken an accounting or bookkeeping class? Do you wish someone could show you the basics of accounting? Would you like an accounting or bookkeeping refresher course?

Accounting 101 is basic training designed for departmental administrators and staff who have accounting or financial responsibilities, but limited accounting or bookkeeping training. It can also be an accounting refresher course.

This class covers the following concepts and how they fit into the university environment:  

  • assets, liabilities, owner’s equity, revenue and expenses
  • accrual vs. cash basis of accounting
  • debits and credits
  • the Accounting Equation
  • balance sheet and income statement

This class is presented in four 3-hour sessions. The information is cumulative so please plan on attending all sessions. All sessions will be held virtually via Zoom.
