Join us for an exploration on Afro-Cuban jazz through the lens of focusing on its roots and instrumentations (drums and timbales, claves and cajon). It also highlights prominent Latin Jazz artist such as Mario Bauza, Cachao and Machito; and demonstrate the various styles and rhythm with actual samples of the music.

Performance by master flutist and jazz historian, Galen Abdur-Razzaq, will begin the program. Abdur-Razzaq (flutejuice.net) is a world renowned flutist, educator and lecturer. His talk will be infused with musical performance.
