About this Event
1610 Pleasant Street, Boulder, CO 80309
https://www.colorado.edu/cumuseum/Known for their imposing architecture, hieroglyphic writing, and sophisticated calendar, ancient Maya peoples have captured the popular imagination. Often, however, contemporary Maya peoples have little say in how Maya history is studied and do not benefit financially from tourism focused in large part on Maya heritage. This presentation will consider how archaeologist have worked with and for Maya peoples wanting to tell their own stories and benefit from their own cultures.
