About this Event
With Noah Geisel, Micro-credentials Program Manager, Office of the Registrar UC Boulder & Zack Hazlett & Michael Stowell, Molecular, Cellular & Developmental biology
Wednesday, 31st August 2022 Porter BioScience B121 @ 3:30 PM
Our goal is to introduce the STEM education community to the idea and process of micro-credentialling and digital badges. The micro-credentialling process aims to "provide a way to recognize and document the acquisition of specific skills or competencies" that complement and enhance traditional degree programs.
When successfully completed, students are issued a digital badge that "contains metadata about the program's requirements and learning objectives, as well as links to educational artifacts, making them independently verifiable and portable, empowering learners to use, share & display their credentials however they see fit."
All units are welcome to propose micro-credential projects and this meeting will share both a broad introduction to what micro-credentials are at CU Boulder, as well as address DBER-specific wonderings about proposing and implementing micro-credentials to support and credential our learners.
Zack and Michael will describe micro-credentialling in the context of the SkillsCenter (MCDB 1234) project.
