DESCRIPTION:Department of Anthropology University of Colorado Boulder\n\nDi
stinguished Lecture in Archaeology\n\nAnti-Anthropos: On the Promise of a
 More-Than-Human Archaeology\n\nOliver Harris\, University of Leicester\, U
 K\n\nThursday\, November 6\, 4pm\; Paleontology Hall\, University of Color
ado\n\nMuseum of Natural History\n\nOver the last twenty years\, archaeolo
gy has seen a host of theoretical ‘turns’\, with emphasis being placed
  variously on ontology\, materials\, object-oriented approaches\, relation
s and more. One of the critical issues here has been the question of the h
uman: has archaeology managed to fully historicise what it means to be hum
an in the past? Is this a worthwhile goal\, and what would we need to do t
o achieve this? In this lecture\, I evaluate the potentials for an archaeo
logy that takes a radically immanent approach to the past\, with consequen
ces for how it explores the role of materials\, time and human beings.
