Abstract: In this short presentation I'll give an overview of a series of different projects and collectives with which I'm collaborating.
- Starting with the anthropology of science, I have been working for 12 years now with the KeckCAVES, a center for the development of virtual environments for collaborative scientific research on 3D datasets. Oliver Kreylos programmed the software/hardware that makes 3D really interesting - his videos show the potential. I'm also co-running a Group improvisation Lab Labs at UC Davis where we use the software in movement and play research.
- In November 2019, I was at the Joint Improvisation Lab at CNRS in Paris for a month (where dance, philosophy, and neuroscience meet, see this paper on kinaesthetic togetherness. We ran a conference hackathon also on Virtual Realities, Collective Realities. We're experimenting with joint-improvisation in VR and neuro-cognitive science - including two new pubs: Shared Diminished Reality: A New VR Framework for the Study of Embodied Intersubjectivity and [Re]moving Bodies – A Shared Diminished Reality Installation for Exploring Relational Movement
- On scores/practices of attention and ways of using the expertise of improvisers (dance and theatre especially) in designing neuro experiments. Here are three short video talks I've made on improvisation and fascia, contact/balance, and "Sharing Embodied Perspectives, Exploring Interacting Minds". The latter is part of Interacting Minds Centre at Aarhus University, Denmark. In collaboration with Studio Olafur Eliasson (Berlin), we have gotten a multi-year project grant on Experiencing, Experimenting, Reflecting.
