About this Event
Join a monthly virtual meeting for those who align with Black, Indigenous or other people of color (BIPOC) and friends to connect, create community, and support one another. We may choose a theme to center our discussions each month. For example, food, hair, family, music etc.
Though primarily for the 12 RIO Institutes and participants/facilitators of the 2021 Racial Equity Challenge for Institutes, any CU Boulder BIPOC member and friends are welcome.
Time: First Fridays, September to December & February to May. 2:30 - 3:30pm.
Hosts:
Institute of Cognitive Science (Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity Committee)
CIRES (Diversity & Equity team)
>> Signup for BIPOC affinity first fridays <<
The gathering is an informal, minimally structured, unfacilitated open-house time. We provide a welcoming, inclusive space to create genuine connections, share our lived-experiences of all kinds, and support one another as valued students, staff, researchers, and educators members of the CU Boulder community.
This meeting follows the University of Colorado Boulder campus guidance on affinity groups.
A related but separate meeting will take place at the same time for those who are allies in equity work to continue building relationships and discussions that began during the Challenge. See Equity Allies first friday.
