The job market for AI and Computational Linguistics positions is currently very tough. Even applicants with the most relevant skills can find it hard to get a foot in the door, and the interview process can be full of stumbling blocks. This talk aims to provide insight into the interview process of tech companies, including what types of interviews to expect and how to prepare. We will also cover some basics on resume building and writing.

Bio:
Miriam Eckert has a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Edinburgh and was a postdoc at the University of Pennsylvania in the Institute for Research in Cognitive Science, focusing on corpus linguistics. She has worked as a computational linguist at Microsoft, JD Power, Appen, and Nuance. Currently she is a Linguistic Engineering Manager in the Wearables division of Meta's Reality Labs, leading the Integrity & Safety Team.
