Buffalo Nites: Comedian Maya May
Join the Center for Student Involvement and the Dennis Small Cultural Center to celebrate Black History Month with world-renowned stand-up comedian Maya May.
Maya May is a writer and stand-up who used humor to navigate the awkwardness of growing up a black nerd and only child in suburban Chicago. She started stand up in 2014, months after moving back to the U.S. after eight years abroad. Since then Maya has quickly become known for her smart, fun and socially conscious brand of humor – featuring and headlining at some of the country’s best independent showcases. She has performed at festivals (Boston Comedy Festival, Women in Comedy Festival, Lady Laughs, All Jane, Chicago Women’s Funny Festival), cubicles and for all the cashiers at Trader Joe’s.
