About this Event
View mapJoin us as we explore Compassion, one of the eight pillars of joy offered by the Dalai Lama and the Archbishop in The Book of Joy.
Practicing compassion supports us as we orient ourselves toward service to the world. In this session on March 6 from 12 p.m. to 12:50 p.m., we will practice taking perspective, expanding our sphere of care, and discuss the difference between empathy burnout and compassion resilience. This session complements the Compassion Days on campus this fall and will help us develop the internal capacity needed to work for the greater good.
Facilitated by Holly Gayley, associate professor, Department of Religious Studies.
This event is a part of a series of guided mindfulness practices and book clubs offered in celebration of 23-24 Buffs One Read, sponsored by the University Libraries, the Renee Crown Wellness Institute, and the Contemplative Resource Center. To learn more about the Book of Joy, join our community course to read a summary of the chapter about Compassion, explore discussion questions, and engage in activities.
