The Institute of Behavioral Science Speaker Series takes place at noon at the Jessor Building, Room 155. Light lunch and Zoom options available. Our speaker this week is Abbie B. Liel, a professor of civil, environmental and architectural engineering at CU Boulder and a licensed professional engineer whose research focuses on how buildings perform under extreme hazards like earthquakes. Her work examines structural safety, risk and resilience—from predicting collapse and improving building codes to understanding life safety risks and economic losses in communities. She is a recipient of the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and a Marshall Scholar.
