We study a small mammal called the American pika, a close relative to the rabbits and hares. Unlike their relatives, pikas make a variety of calls and the males even sing! This talk will explore what's known about the calls and songs of pikas, including dialects that differ by region and subspecies, as well as the modern tools we're harnessing to learn about the information encoded in pika vocalizations.
