Abstract:
As the United States Constitution approaches its 250th anniversary, the Centennial State Colorado marks 150 years since the adoption of its own constitution. This lecture explores the history, evolution, and enduring significance of the Colorado Constitution. From shaping state governance to influencing national debates, Josh Vandiver examines how Colorado’s founding document reflects the values and challenges of its citizens and why it still matters today.
Speakers:
Dr. Josh Vandiver is an assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at The University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He primarily teaches American and European constitutional law and political theory.
Professor Thomas Andrews is the Faculty Director of The Center of the American West. Professor Andrews teaches a wide range of courses in environmental history and the history of the United States West, and is passionate about educating current and future history teachers.
