COSINC-CHR (NCF) is hosting the FIB (focused ion beam) Open House on 4/19/19 Friday.

The FIB is a technique used mainly in the semiconductor industry, materials science and increasingly in the biological fields for site-specific removal of materials, analysis, and deposition.

This event consists of two parts: Talks in the morning and demo sessions with our Thermo Fisher (FEI) Nova Nanolab 600 Dual Beam System in the afternoon.

The demo participants will learn the basic operations of a FIB system and receive a hands-on demonstration. Participants will also be able to ‘engrave’  their initials at the microscale, including the Buffs Logo on a silicon substrate, which they will get to take home.

This event is free and open to the public but registration is required. Please register now as space is limited (Limit of 40 for the talks and 24 for the demo sessions).
