Creating Trans-Affirming Universities

In this interactive workshop, participants will build an understanding of the intersectional experiences of trans and non-binary students, faculty, and staff and practice strategies for interrupting transphobia, transmisogyny, and cisgenderism on campus. Recognizing that gendered expectations impact everyone, the goal of this workshop is to challenge our knowledge of and approach to trans inclusion, shifting our focus from accommodating trans as an identity of difference to transforming how gender inequality operates within the university setting.

Presenter: Megan (Maggie) Nanney, Equal Opportunity and Diversity Research Associate at East Carolina University’s Office for Equity and Diversity
