Demystifying Comprehensive Exams: From Choosing an Advisor to ABD

Comprehensive exams are a critical part of graduate school and it’s common to feel overwhelmed, not only by the content absorption process but also by the exam logistics. If you have questions about how best to prepare, who you should put on your committee, how to ask someone to serve as your chair and more, you’re not alone!

Next month, PhD candidates from across CMCI who have completed comprehensive exams will share their experiences in an aim to demystify the process and make it as approachable an endeavor as possible. There will also be an overview of support available from the Graduate School, as well as collaborative work time when people will have an opportunity to begin formalizing their plans for these exams.

The event will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Institute of Behavioral Science, room 155A. A catered lunch will be provided.
