The Department of Psychology and Neuroscience proudly presents Dr. Anna Finley, Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute on Aging, University of Wisconsin-Madison
Title: Health and Well-being: A Social, Cognitive, and Affective Neuroscience Approach
Abstract: Dr. Anna Finley’s research aims to understand how social, cognitive, and affective processes interrelate and impact health and well-being by investigating sociocultural influences on behavioral and neural processes associated with executive function and emotion regulation. In this talk, she will discuss three studies from her postdoctoral work with the Midlife in the United States (MIDUS) Affective Neuroscience Project examining: emotional expression and cardiovascular health in Black and White Americans; resting EEG measures predictive of longitudinal cognitive decline; and the associations between loneliness, inflammation, and brain volume. She will also detail her future research plans, including the formation of partnerships with rural and underrepresented Colorado communities to examine the differential impacts of loneliness and social isolation on health and well-being.
