Adam Nocek is the founding director of the Center for Philosophical Technologies at Arizona State University, situated in the School of Arts, Media and Engineering and the Design School. Nocek has published widely on design/architectural theory and practice, design studies, philosophy of media and science, speculative philosophy, and on critical and speculative theories of computational media. In his creative practice, Nocek draws on social and speculative design and the material arts and sciences to design techniques for collective critique and imagination. His work has been performed and exhibited internationally. Nocek is also a visiting researcher at the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Study and is the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) Visiting Professor.
