About this Event
This hands-on workshop introduces participants to Shiny, an R package that facilitates the development of interactive web applications. We will focus, in particular, on using Shiny to develop interactive data dashboards that allow users (including users unfamiliar with R) to explore and extract information from datasets. Topics covered include the use of data dashboards as a tool of scientific communication; the structure of Shiny applications and Shiny application development; the use of the Shiny framework to develop data dashboards using the shinydashboard package; dashboard design; and dashboard publication and dissemination. By the end of the workshop, you should be able to transform a static tabular dataset into a simple data dashboard that allows for interactive user engagement. The workshop presupposes proficiency in the R programming language, but does not expect prior familiarity with the Shiny package or application development in R.
Registration is required. Zoom information will be sent in the confirmation email.
