The Día de Los Muertos Altar Crawl is a campus-wide event that invites you to explore and engage with a series of altars created in honor of Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). This event will highlight the cultural significance of the day by encouraging participants to visit different altars across campus, each representing various aspects of remembrance and celebration. Participants can enjoy food, music and personal stories that honor those who have passed, creating a collective experience of reflection and community.

 

Tentative Schedule:

  • 9 a.m. - 10 a.m.: Opening Celebration at Abrams Lounge | Music, food, and an introduction to the cultural significance of Día de Los Muertos led by UMAS y MEChA. Participants receive the campus-wide Altar Crawl map.
  • 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Altar Crawl | Visitors can travel freely between altars across campus. QR code maps and printed guides will be provided to ensure easy navigation. Each altar will host its own programming, including music, small group discussions, or opportunities for visitors to leave personal notes or mementos.
  • 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Closing Ceremony at Abrams Lounge
