Dialogic Practices to Foster Community in Online Teaching

This 90 minute, interactive workshop hosted by CU Engage’s CU Dialogues Program staff will focus on integrating principles of dialogue in online learning to promote inclusive student engagement and a sense of community in remote settings. The workshop will present elements of a dialogic centered teaching approach, specific logistical considerations for translating this online, activities and protocols to advance dialogic engagement, and guiding principles of inclusive practices in dialogue. We will consider forms of instructional design to open up space for students to share perspectives, personal experiences, and viewpoints in ways to expand content learning and build a sense of belonging in the online classroom. Participants will leave with both practical tools to implement in their own courses and a broader understanding of how dialogue can promote active learning. This workshop will be followed by an optional second workshop in August, in which participants will have the opportunity to practice dialogue.

Registration required: Please fill out this form no later than July 13 to RSVP for the workshop. We will send the Zoom link to registered participants.
