Join us at the Center for Research Data and Digital Scholarship for our brown bag series. Join us on Wed. 12/5 at 12noon in Norlin E206/CRDDS with  Greg Gondwe (Media Studies), Joe Hatfield (Communication), Elizabeth Sullivan (Linguistics), and Ridge Zackary (Geography), who will give short talks about their digital humanities project proposals for DHUM 5000: "Introduction to Digital Humanities: Movements, Methods, & Tools."

• Throughout the semester, DHUM 5000 students have discussed the various "movements" of our local flavor of digital humanities, which centers around socio-cultural critiques of DH, such as social justice, post-colonialism, feminism, and other significant conversations taking place in the digital humanities community. Students have also explored a variety of DH projects that represent the DH ethos of open scholarship, while engaging in several methodological techniques for visualizing humanities data. Gondwe, Hatfield, Sullivan, and Zackary will each present on a DH project they hope to pursue, while addressing the scholarly interventions and DH inflections of their future research.

Throughout the academic year, CU students and faculty will address how they practice digital and/or open scholarship and what benefits there are to doing so. Through these informal talks and ensuing discussion, we hope to increase the exposure of the different approaches to discovery and the novel research questions that can be addressed through the use of digital research methods and tools. All are welcome to join us! Light refreshments will be served.
