DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the 2022-24 Embodied Judaism Exhibit Opening
& Reception at Norlin Library:\n\n"Know Your Nosh: Food\, Jewishness & Id
entity"\n\nSpace is limited. Please RSVP here.\nLight refreshments will be
served.\n\nThis exhibit explores the significance of food for Jewish reli
 gious\, cultural\, national\, and political identities\, focusing on the U
nited States and Israel/Palestine. Food has been used to create\, maintain
\, and reimagine boundaries in Jewish communities. The borrowing and appro
priation of foods from other cultures have helped shape new Jewish identit
ies. Different groups of Jews have navigated diverse majority cultures\, u
sing food both to solidify ethnic identities and to challenge—or reinfor
ce—narratives of tolerance and inclusion. Jewish farmers are growing foo
d with ecologically sensitive methods and educating their communities in r
esponse to the climate crisis. \n\nWe center the Jewish Renewal community\
, highlighting the strength of the Innovations in Jewish Life Collections\
, a collaboration between the University Libraries Rare and Distinctive Co
llections and CU Boulder’s Program in Jewish Studies.\n\nCredits\n\n2022
