Faculty Tuesdays: Modern masterworks by Annika Socolofsky, Caroline Shaw, Gienette Keller and Jean Françaix
Yoshi Ishikawa and Annika Socolofsky come together with Carpe Diem String Quartet and Brenda Ishikawa to present a concert of powerful masterworks. Dive into Caroline Shaw’s colorful work "Blueprint," which "…began its life as a harmonic reduction, a kind of floor plan, of Beethoven's String Quartet Op. 18 No. 6." Annika Socolofsky’s evocative composition, "Don’t Say a Word," arranged for voice and strings, "…serves to confront centuries of damaging lessons taught to young children by retelling old lullaby texts for a new, queer era." Gianett Keller’s "Ebauch" paints musical imagery through groundbreaking extended techniques, while Jean Françaix's delightful bassoon and strings masterwork adds a playful finale to this unmissable performance.
Renowned CU Boulder College of Music faculty artists perform with students and colleagues in chamber music recitals featuring world premieres and beloved classics. Join us for this free series in person at Grusin Music Hall or via livestream most Tuesdays August through March.
