About this Event
According to Forbes, “Financial wellness, put simply, is the ability to have a healthy financial life. It means your debts are payable and you have ample emergency, college and retirement funds. You're well prepared to handle any financial crisis.”
This presentation explores the notion that financial wellness is not a one-size fits all, especially for first-generation and low-income families. We all start at different levels depending on our life experiences and generational understandings of money. We will explore what financial wellness means to us as thriving members of the first-generation community.
This event is open to all, but the conversation will be geared toward first-generation students.
Speaker: Christian Gonzalez (she/they), Director of The Butler Center at Colorado College
This is sponsored by the Office for Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in the College of Arts & Sciences and the Center for African and African American Studies.
