About this Event
The Center for Critical Thought, the Department of English, and the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages and Literatures will be delighted to host Professor Eric Hayot of Pennsylvania State University for a pair of events based on his new book, Humanist Reason: A History. An Argument. A Plan.
In this work, Professor Hayot singularly and with remarkable energy seeks to interrogate the critical, methodological, and disciplinary paradigms that have led the humanities to its current state of crisis, and to develop a new, more positive vision of humanist reason, of the value and significance of the humanities, for our universities and beyond.
In light of our ongoing discussions of Academic Futures here at CU as well as the many challenges our individual humanities departments have faced in this year of unprecedented crisis, we feel that welcoming Professor Hayot to CU to discuss his work with our graduate students and our community at large will provide us with a unique opportunity to collectively and collaboratively think through some of our abiding concerns, and to reimagine how the humanities might best serve our students and our society during these dark times.
Please join us for thought and discussion with Professor Hayot!
