About this Event
Fostering inclusive, evidence-based mentorship practices, the Graduate Inclusive Mentoring Community (GIMC) offers professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to enhance their mentoring skills.
The purpose of GIMC meetings is to address ways that the Graduate School, and the campus more broadly, can better support graduate mentoring. During these meetings, those who mentor graduate students (faculty and staff) problem-solve around mentoring challenges faced within different departments and colleges across campus. Mentors can make recommendations to the Graduate School, which in turn informs policies that the Graduate School advocates for at the campus level.GIMC meetings also serve as positive, communal spaces for those who care about mentorship and wish support and/or to support other mentors. Meetings are open to all those who mentor graduate students. Initiatives of focus are driven by interests of mentors who attend these meetings..
