About this Event
2450 Kittredge Loop Drive, Boulder, CO 80309
Join us for a special evening of film, dialogue, and celebration on April 25 in honor of Reyes P. Martínez, Esq. and the legacy of the Chicano Movement. This free event is co-hosted by the University of Colorado Law School and The BUENO Center for Multicultural Education with donations supporting the Los Seis Scholarship Fund housed at The BUENO Center.
Reyes P. Martínez, Esq. was a dedicated Chicano activist and attorney who played a crucial role in the Chicano Movement, advocating for social justice, educational equity, and Indigenous land rights. As a key figure in the 1970s, he worked alongside activists fighting systemic oppression, particularly in the Southwest, where the movement sought to challenge racial discrimination and reclaim cultural identity. His legacy is deeply tied to the struggle for Chicano liberation, making his contributions especially significant in the context of Los Seis de Boulder. Reyes, a CU Law graduate, was one of six Chicano Movement activists who perished in two separate automobile explosions in May 1974. This was a tragic yet pivotal moment in the fight for Chicanx rights.
Please register by Friday, April 18.
