Dr. Byrd is an Associate Research Scientist with the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education in the University of Michigan’s School of Education. His work examines the mechanisms of racism within higher education and in broader society, racialization of science and knowledge production, and critical quantitative approaches for improving the study of social inequalities. He is the author of Behind the Diversity Numbers: Achieving Racial Equity on Campus, Poison in the Ivy: Race Relations and the Reproduction of Inequality on Elite College Campuses, and co-editor of Intersectionality and Higher Education: Identity and Inequality on College Campuses.

This talk is being co-sponsored by the School of Education’s MA in Higher Education (MAHE) program, the Research & Evaluation Methodology (REM) program, and the FBS Dialogue Project, which is a collaboration between the CU Dialogues Program and Finance and Business Strategy (FBS). Special thanks to CU Boulder’s Office of Data Analytics (ODA) for sponsoring lunch.

Dr. Byrd will be on campus for ODA’s Data Community of Practice Conference and is the Keynote Speaker on Friday, April 21. Learn more about the conference at colorado.edu/oda/data-community-practice-conference.
