Bio: Eric Schwitzgebel is a professor of philosophy at University of California, Riverside, specializing in philosophy of mind, consciousness, moral psychology, and science fiction.  He has published three books with MIT Press, including Perplexities of Consciousness (2011) and A Theory of Jerks and Other Philosophical Misadventures (2019).  He has argued, among other things, that we have poor introspective knowledge even of our currently ongoing conscious experience, that all philosophical and scientific theories of consciousness involve dubious and bizarre commitments, and that the academic study of philosophical ethics has almost no empirically discoverable relationship with real-world moral behavior.
