International Teaching Assistants: Teaching American College Students

With Berit Jany, Senior Instructor, German & Slavic Languages & Literatures

This workshop provides international TAs with insights and strategies to teach at a US university. Topics include: different learning cultures, academic background of college students, appropriate roles of teachers and students, and the US system of assessment and grading.

This workshop will take place remotely, via Zoom. You will need to be logged in to Zoom with your CU credentials to access this session.

Slides will be shared with participants. Live captioning and ASL interpretation are available upon request. Email CTL@colorado.edu to request accommodations. We will attempt to fulfill all requests, but cannot guarantee requests made within 7 days of the event.

This session is part of the CTL’s Fall Intensive, an annual event supporting the development of graduate students as teaching scholars. The workshops are designed to help you teach at CU Boulder, begin your professional development in postsecondary education, and explore nonacademic job opportunities. While sessions are designed for graduate students, many are applicable to any educator new to CU Boulder and anyone is welcome at any event.
