English has been almost entirely foreign to the Middle East in general, and to Israel/Palestine in particular. Nevertheless, a robust ecosystem of English-language media outlets has been active in it since the 1920s. This presentation will analyze the evolution of the journalistic, political and commercial interests at play while these outlets were negotiating their relationship with their audience, from British imperial actors in the Interwar era to Jewish diaspora groups in the digital age.
