The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is the largest, most powerful and complex space telescope ever built and launched into space.

Join us as NASA shares the telescope's first images with the world.

The telescope will study every phase in the history of our universe, ranging from the first luminous glows after the big bang, to the formation of solar systems capable of supporting life on planets like Earth, to the evolution of our own solar system. Launched December 25, 2021, JWST is located nearly a million miles from Earth.
