About this Event
4001 Discovery Dr., Boulder, CO 80309
The JEDI Book Club will meet on Friday, October 4th at 3:00 pm (SEEC S225) to discuss Carolyn Finney's scholarly work "Black Faces, White Spaces: Reimagining the Relationship of African Americans to the Great Outdoors".
The book covers the historical and social elements that have influenced African Americans' relationships with nature and the outdoors. This topic should be of interest to most INSTAARs, as a deep dive into the systematic racism and historical exclusion of BIPOC in some of the outdoor spaces we work in.
Recognizing busy schedules, everyone is invited to participate in the discussion regardless of having read Finney’s piece. Please reach out to Nicole Hornslein if you have any questions, concerns, or need assistance getting a copy of the book.
