DESCRIPTION:The JEDI Book Club will meet on Friday\, October 4th at 3:00 pm
(SEEC S225) to discuss Carolyn Finney's scholarly work "Black Faces\, Whit
e Spaces: Reimagining the Relationship of African Americans to the Great Ou
tdoors".\n\nThe book covers the historical and social elements that have in
fluenced African Americans' relationships with nature and the outdoors. Thi
s topic should be of interest to most INSTAARs\, as a deep dive into the sy
stematic racism and historical exclusion of BIPOC in some of the outdoor sp
aces we work in.\n\nRecognizing busy schedules\, everyone is invited to par
ticipate in the discussion regardless of having read Finney’s piece. Please
reach out to Nicole Hornslein if you have any questions\, concerns\, or ne
ed assistance getting a copy of the book.
