Generative AI has become a water cooler topic, yet it’s still an elusive concept for many of us. Come learn about and discuss the basics of gen AI with Conor Canaday from the Academic Technology team in OIT. We'll cover a range of perspectives, including the advantages, pitfalls, and ethical concerns. Conor will share about a new open-source gen AI chat platform, LibreChat, that is endorsed by OIT. Teresa Nugent, Assoc. Teaching Professor from the English department will discuss methods for students (and other human writers) to use gen AI in their thinking and drafting process. To round out the session, you’ll have time to collaboratively experiment with a gen AI tool while knowledgeable practitioners are available for questions.
