DESCRIPTION:Harry Dudley\, Department of Applied Mathematics\, University o
 f Colorado Boulder\n\nModel Selection & Bioelectrochemical Systems\n\nMicro
bial electrolysis cells (MECs) are devices that produce hydrogen from renew
able organic matter\, such as wastewater. These devices require less energy
input than water electrolysis and have greater efficiency than fermentativ
e hydrogen production. We present a sensitivity and bifurcation analysis o
f a differential-algebraic equation (DAE) to study microbial competition an
d MEC operation. We will also discuss model selection methods\, particular
ly a data-driven discovery method known as sparse identification of nonline
 ar dynamical systems (SINDy).
