DESCRIPTION:The campus and broader communities are invited to a public rece
 ption for the traveling exhibit "Revolutionary Grain: Celebrating the Spiri
 t of the Black Panther Party in Portraits and Stories" that is on display i
 n Macky Gallery from Jan. 15 until March 15. The exhibition commemorates th
 e legacy of the Black Panther movement through powerful portraits and narra
 tives that California-based artist Susanna Lucia Lamaina has taken and asse
 mbled in years of travel. Campus leaders will welcome our guests. Four of t
 he Black Panthers --  Gayle Dickson\, Aaron Dixon\, Ericka Huggins\, and Bi
 lly X Jennings -- whose portraits are in the exhibit will be present and gu
 ide visitors through the exhibit. The photographer will give an artist talk
 . Refreshments will be served.\n\nThe event and exhibit are also part of CU
  Boulder's Black History Month events and co-organized with CAAAS and the D
 epartment of History. It continues the many important discussions on campus
  about racism\, police violence\, the challenges of political organizing an
 d racial justice.
