Horses are not just an animal, but a way of life across much of the Rocky Mountains, Great Plains, and American Southwest. Join Mr. Christopher Chavez, as he shares his wisdom and perspective on history, heritage, and the relationship between horses and Native Peoples.
Mr. Christopher Chavez is a researcher, tribal historian, and Tribal Historic Preservation Officer for the Pueblo of Kewa/Santo Domingo in the Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico. In addition to a lifetime of experience with horses, he holds a Baccalaureate and Master's degree in American Studies from the University of New Mexico. Mr. Chavez's research explores issues of cultural heritage and language preservation in the Pueblo community.
Presented in conjunction with Horses in the North American West, an upcoming online and in-person exhibit at the CU Museum, available in both English and Spanish.
