Registration is now open for the 47th Annual Natural Hazards Research and Applications Workshop! This completely virtual workshop will be held from July 10-13, 2022.

Our program this year focuses on the theme of Changing Climates: Equity and Adaptation in a Warming World. The keynote speaker and other special events in the workshop are highlighted below. You can find a list of all of the exciting sessions, forums, and trainings in the full schedule.

Keynote: This year’s opening keynote speaker, Robert Bullard, is a distinguished professor of urban planning and environmental policy and director of the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice at Texas Southern University. His keynote address will focus on how to design just strategies for adaptation and mitigation and will offer a framework for dismantling systemic racism that creates, exacerbates, and perpetuates inequality and vulnerability.

Program: Thanks to the many thoughtful suggestions we received, we have crafted a schedule that highlights how the hazards and disaster field is grappling with and responding to the realities of a warming world. In addition to training and concurrent sessions, we also have five exciting plenary sessions scheduled.

Special Events: We hope you will join us for a special Career Kickstarter luncheon session on Tuesday. Please also remember to sign up for the 8th Annual Bill Anderson Fund Disaster Dash! The 5K fun run or walk will be virtual so you or your team can join from anywhere in the world.

Sign-up for updates about the Workshop or to learn more about the Natural Hazards Center.

All sessions will be streamed live on our virtual platform, allowing for maximum audience interaction. We’ll also be recording sessions so they can be viewed again when convenient for registrants.
