Online Pedagogy Community of Practice (OCoP)

OCoP Mission: This community of practice will amplify exemplary work already happening across campus, from training and workshops to innovative course design and student-centered pedagogy. But its most important goal will be to create a space for dialogue that builds trusted relationships among collaborators by sharing effective strategies and practices, encountering challenges with empathy, and facing change with community. This is not “just another meeting” - this is a network of trusted collaborators invested in doing what we do, better.
The Online Pedagogy Community of Practice planning committee would like to focus our Fall 2022 events on exploring common problems that all of us face when designing online learning experiences.
September 21st: Please join us for a discussion on learner engagement. Here are some questions that we’d like to explore: What is engagement? How do you measure it? Is it even necessary? Is it conditioned by the modality of instruction (distant asynchronous, distant synchronous, hybrid)? How is instructor presence or absence related to learner engagement? What strategies, pedagogies, or resources can we explore that enhance student engagement when interacting online?
