Open Space Visions: Presentation and Book Signing

Join us for a presentation and book signing by Molly Davis. Molly will discuss the concept of vision and what sustained that vision to the completion of the show Open Space Visions with paintings of all the trails on the Open Space system in Boulder.

The book, which accompanies the show, is a compilation of interviews, stories and all the paintings in a show that were designed to tell the story of the first 50 years of preserving open space in Boulder.

Molly was a trustee from 2013 to 2018 for the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks system, when the major flood affected Boulder, and her book chronicles the difficult road that nature takes toward recovery and her resilience to bounce back from her devastating losses in the flood inspired by observations from nature. Molly’s resilient spirit was nurtured by spending these hours painting from life on most of the trails, and she shares this with the reader and the viewer in this show and the companion book.

Special guest speaker Ruth Wright, who was one of the original architects of the open space movement, will talk about her original vision and will discuss with Molly the future of open space and challenges we will face to make it through the next 50 years and protect this unique and priceless jewel that we own and manage here in Boulder.

A book signing will follow the presentation at 7:45 p.m.
