About this Event
1125 18th Street, Boulder, CO 80309
The Brakhage Center cordially invites you to its fall luncheon series: Documentary Poetics.
Featuring: Teri Rueb, Professor, Dept. of Critical Media Practices
Pause/Play: Notes on Mediated Walking and Listening
Over the past twenty years, Teri Rueb has created sound installations in which sounds play back in response to one’s movement in the landscape as sensed by GPS.
These works have been made in dialogue with environments ranging from freeways and urban centers across the United States, to tidal flats and glaciated peaks in Germany and Canada. This talk will revisit some of these places, stopping at points along the way that warrant a moment of pause and reflection in an effort to reveal some of the challenges and opportunities of working in emerging media and expanded documentary.
