In this workshop, participants will learn strategies for increasing equity when teaching analysis writing skills. We’ll discuss a common challenge for graduate instructors teaching undergraduates how to observe phenomena and then make critical claims based on those observations. Then we’ll share some pedagogical tools for helping students break down the writing process into discrete steps and move from observation to writing analysis. Finally, we’ll provide an opportunity for participants to share their own best practices for teaching writing.
