(Self) Compassionate Pedagogies for TAs and GPTIs: Developing Templates, Practices, and Policies to Save Time and Energy While Promoting Student and Instructor Well Being

Hosted by: Stephanie Couey, PhD Candidate, Graduate Area Liaison of the Humanities, and GPTI for the Departments of English and Continuing Education

As graduate students, we may often be told to “put our research first,” but how can we actually do that when, as teachers, we are directly accountable to so many learners? In this workshop, we will discuss how to build and implement specific tools and practices that do not detract from how fully we support our students, while at the same time helping to ensure that we do not expend excess stress in our roles as instructors. This tools-based workshop is just as much about concrete tips as it is about fostering compassion for us as graduate student instructors.

Open to all graduate students who are currently teaching or who are planning to teach in the future.

Coffee and treats will be provided for up to 20 people.
