About this Event
1900 Colorado Avenue, Boulder, CO 80309
150 high school students from four different schools will present physics, chemistry and engineering projects they have completed this year under the guidance of CU student mentors, through the PISEC program. Come check out their projects and help the high school studens engage in an authentic science communication practice!
Partnerships for Informal Science Education in the Community (PISEC) is the JILA-PFC outreach program that connects university volunteers with local K-12 students to engage in authentic scientific practices. We have programs at the elementary/middle and high school levels, and strive to cultivate students' interest in STEM and support their identities as scientists. Through mutually beneficial partnerships, we work particularly with students from groups underserved and underrepresented in STEM, helping to create pathways into STEM disciplines and in turn supporting the identity and professional development of university volunteers.
